‘The personal contact is just as important as the quality of the product’
Virtually any company is able to offer a good product. In fact: poor quality is rarely produced anymore. There are of course levels of quality, particularly with the many different types of glue, but choosing the right supplier and manufacturer is actually down to more than just the quality.Bart Verschoor of Verschoor Design refers to this as the reward factor. Trust in the supplier or a particular employee can determine the choice of glues, adhesives and related products. He explains his decision to opt for Bijlard. “I have already known Account Manager Sven Westerholt for a long time. We got to know each other when we ordered our sheet material from Baars & Bloemhoff, and that relationship extended beyond simply business. When he left the company, we actually stayed in contact, which is why I also gave him the opportunity to introduce Bijlard’s products with us. Because he decided to go and work there, he was also indicating that he believed in their products, and that was a positive sign for me.”
Verschoor Design is primarily known as a maker of customised designer furniture. “The customer’s wishes and preferences are of central importance to me, but often I hear: just design it as you see fit. That’s what people believe in. I create those designs in 3D, as this gives the customer the best idea of what the furniture will look like, as well as being ideal for making changes to it. As a designer, it’s nice to be given free reign like that.” The orders that Verschoor receives come from both private and business clients. “Sometimes they might be wardrobes for a house, but it may also be a design for use in a shop.”
Around five years ago, Verschoor came into contact with the company as Sven Westerholt joined Bijlard. “I was already familiar with the company, and over the past few years, they have grown considerably too. It is of course for good reason that more and more customers have gone to them. Which of their products I use? Various special glues and V3 lacquer, as well as related products such as sanding pads and other cleaning items. Almost anything I’m able to use in that field, I buy from Bijlard. And all that came about as a result of the good contact I had with Sven. I therefore have an excellent relationship with the entire company. I always receive invitations to the trade fairs they attend. They also stock the products we need at all times. If they launch something new onto the market and it is unknown to us, they always send us a sample so that we can try out the glue or adhesive. That reflects that personal bond perfectly, and for me, that is just as important as the quality of the product itself. Therefore at no point have I regretted this choice of collaboration.”
